At the waterfall at the end of the Half Collared Kingfisher Trail board walk.
This cache is on the Half Collared Kingfisher Trail (Touw River). The total walk is 8 kilometres return (same route in and out)and will take about 2 hrs of walking at a brisk pace. The route is fairly flat on boardwalks that are hiding the pipeline for water to Wilderness. A river crossing on a pontoon adds fun to the walk. The walk will take you through a river valley with beautiful rocks and cliffs. There is a waterfall and nice rock pool for swimming at the end, so plan some extra time to stop here and enjoy the refreshing water. Pack something to eat - the scenery is great. Look out for the Knysna Loeries - you can hear them often, but seldom see them. On our last walk, they were playing and feeding high up in the tree canopy. You can park at S33 59.257 E22 36.430 where the road crosses the Touw river. Regulations Buy a permit at the gate from Parks Board employees (R50 for adults in 2022). Obey Park Board Regulations at entrance of the trail. Find the plastic lunchbox! The cache was restored in 2014 and again in 2022. Cell phone reception and GPS signal is intermittently lost en-route, but good cell phone signal at the cache (pool). GPS positioning is a bit tricky near the cache due to large rock formations. We suggest to rather follow the hints for the final search! Good luck.
