Geocache Description:

Near a spring where Washington Irving camped on his "Tour on the Prairies"

This is an ammo can at the bottom of trees.. It is on the grounds of the Washington Irving Trail Museum. This is a small privately owned museum with free admission. The curator, Mr. Dale Chlouber, is a delightful fellow who has spent a life-time hunting up cool stuff. He was taken with the idea of geocaching once I starting telling him about it and said if anyone wanted to put one on his place he would enjoy that. SO, I immediately offered to hide one! The museum is full of all sorts of artifacts including a meteor, mammoth fossils, an Abe Lincoln election poster, folk art, Native American items, and lots of outlaw and cowboy artifacts. They have a lot of photos and stories about the Doolin-Dalton gang who lived in the area in the late 1800's. There is a lot of Oklahoma history and I easily spent a good two hours poring over all kinds of things. Out on the grounds is what Mr. Chlouber called the Washington Irving Stonhenge, a footbridge, and another rope bridge over the spring creek leading in to the little lake. CONGRATS to Rastus for FTF! Oh yeah, the dogs will bark at you, Rover is the most ferocious, but he never actually approached me, just barked. Mr. Chlouber said he was harmless.................
