Einighausen werd waarschijnlijk rond het jaar 1000 gesticht aan de rand van het “Graetbos”. Door ontbossing als gevolg van ontginning voor de landbouw, leverancier van bouwmaterialen en brandstof verdween het bos grotendeels en werd het een heidegebied.
Volgens de traditie zou het Graetbos door Koning Zwentibold, die te Born zou hebben geresideerd, aan 14 omliggende dorpen zijn geschonken.
Het is 1691 dat Elisabeth Ceacilia van Breyll, vrouwe van Limbricht een kapel sticht te Einighausen met goedkeuring van de bisschop van Luik.
Zij is de jongste dochter van Nicolaas van Breyll onder andere “Heer van Eininckhousen”. Iedere vrijdag van de maand moest er door de slotkapelaan van Limbricht een H. Mis opgedragen worden ter ere van de H.Maagd Maria.
Hij kreeg hiervoor jaarlijks 25 rijksdaalders en moest daarvan ook de kapel onderhouden.
Deze kapel die 22 voet lang was en 10 voet breed, heeft gestaan waar nu het H. Hartbeeld staat bij de kruising Brandstraat,
Everstraat en Heistraat.
Het dorp (gehucht) behoorde in die tijd bij Limbricht en is een zeer bewogen gebied geweest.
Vanaf de middeleeuwen tot 1793, de Franse revolutie, is Limbricht en Einighausen een vrijheerlijkheid geweest onder sterke invloed van het hertogdom Gulick.
Na de Franse bezetting behoorde dit deel van Limburg tot het Belgisch koninkrijk.
In 1836 werd Einighausen een zelfstandige parochie na veel protesten en rechtzaken tegen Limbricht.
Tengevolge van het traktaat van Londen keerde het gebied op 21-22 juni 1839 te middernacht onder “Hollands” gezag terug.
Maar men stak hier niet onder stoelen of banken dat men van de Protestantse “Hollandse” Koning Willem I heel wat minder sympathie verwachtte dan van de Katholieke Belgische Koning Leopold I.

De plek van de cache heet “’t Meultje”.
Historisch is het een inzinking van het landschap en dit gebied zijn een paar glooiingen te zien zijnde vroegere maasbeddingen. Hier zit dan ook kiezel in de grond en is in de 19de eeuw door de plaatselijke bevolking gewonnen voor bouwmateriaal.
Later is deze ontstane kuil gedempt met huisafval tot ver in de zestiger jaren.
Mij is altijd verteld dat “’t Meultje” een verbastering is van het Duitse woord “Müll” hetgeen vuilnis betekent.
Nu is de grond in gebruik als landbouwgrond.
Door de plaatselijke bevolking wordt nu het bosgebied ernaast ’t
Meultje genoemd.
De wandeling is ruim 10km lang en gaat deels door bosgebied waar het na zware regenval op een paar plekken modderig kan zijn.
Op de eerste zondag van Augustus wordt in Einighausen het dorpsfeest “oude ambachten”, gehouden. Het dorp is dan afgesloten en niet vrij toegankelijk.

“‘t Meultje”
Einighausen was probable founded in the year 1000 at the edge of the “Greatbos “ (wood).
By deforesting for agriculture purposes, supplier of buildingmaterials and fuel, the wood nearly disappeared and became a moorland.
According the traditions the wood is given to the people from 14 villages by King “Zwentibold” who was living in Born, a little village here in the neigbourhood.
It was in 1691 that Elisabeth Ceacilia van Breyll, a noble woman from Limbricht, grounded a chapel in Einighausen with approval from the bishop of Liege.
She was the youngest dochter from Nicolaas van Breyll “Lord of Eininchhousen”.
Every friday the priest of Limbricht had to celebrate a mass to honor of the Holy Virgin Maria .
He became 25 rixdollars and had to keep in repair the
chapel.
The chapel wa 22 foot long and 10 foot large and was situated on the place of the statue “Heilig Hartbeeld” on the crossing from the streets “Brandstraat”, “Everstraat” and “Heistraat”.
In that time the village (hamiet) belongs to Limbricht and was a very troubled area.
From the middle ages till 1793, the French revolution, Limbricht and Einighausen was a free independent area under the influence of the dukedom of Gulick.
After the French revolution this area belongs to the Kingdom of Belgium.
In 1836 Einighausen became a independent parish and after a long time from protests and lawsuits against limbricht.
Owing to the treaty of London the area returned back to the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the night of 21-22 juni 1839.
But the people of this area make no secret of it that they expected more sympathy from the catholic Belgium King Leopold I than from the protestant Dutch King Willem I.

In formely days here streamed the river Maas and through that at some places is gravel in the ground.
During the 19th century the gravel is winned by the local
population for buildingmaterial.
Later is this aried pit filled up by waste till far in the
sixtys.
Me is always told that “t Meultje” was a degeneration of the German word for trash “Müll”.
Now the place is in use for agriculter purposes.
By the lokal population the little wood next to the formerly pit is called “t Meultje”.
The walk is about 10 km (6 miles) and a part of it is going through the wood which can be muddy after haevy rainfall.
Mention that the first sunday of august the vollage isn’t
free accessible,.
That day the local people of Einighausen demonstrated old handcrafts from their farmerlife.
