A quick multi involving 2 waypoints
While B was busy working in the township J set about laying a cache.
This multi is located at Cape Foulwind, which is a 10 minute drive from Westport. You can drive to the listed co-ordinates where your journey begins. All up the cache can be found in under an hour.
At the listed co-ordinates there are some information panels, from here you will gather some numbers for the final cache location.
Waypoint 1 - Listed Co-ordinates S41 44.905 E171 28.135
A = Abel Tasman made his 1st New Zealand anchorage off this cape in 16A2
B= Number of seals in 1st panel divided by 2
C = The Halfway House Hotel opened in YY67 where Y+Y=C
Waypoint 2 - S41 44.958 E171 27.968
D = The year in which the lighthouse was 1st lit minus 1854
The final cache is at S41 44.CBA E171 28.0D
The cache is bright red cylindrical container with notebook, pencil and stashnote. Not much room for swaps.
If you want to you can continue around to the seal colony, this will take approximately 1hr from the carpark. The other option is to drive to Tauranga Bay and walk to the seal colony from there where it is only a 10 minute walk. Another cache can be found there also.
