Bonnie's Bothy, a geocache situated on Whittle Hill overlooking the Irwell Valley.
The co-ordinates are for a location below the small wind shelter which is located on Whittle Hill. The cache site looks over to Ramsbottom, and the hills above it - which include Holcombe Hill, Harcles Hill and Bull Hill. There are also wide views to be had.
The cache is a small container, within which there is the log. The route up to the cache from Turn Village is steep, and you climb quickly. It can be muddy and slippy at times, and there are places where it is boggy - near enough all year round. You also need to watch your footing at times - due to there being some gaps in rocks on the path. It also crosses the access road to the Scout Moor Windfarm - so please be careful. It is in an exposed situation, which can be windy and cold (even in the Summer), so please go properly equiped and dressed. Appropriate footwear is also needed, due to its moorland location. Due to its situation - it is not suitable for those in wheelchairs / prams or those with limited mobility.
It is located in access land.
The area near to the cache site has some small outcrops, which do have some drops - please be careful and watch where you are going.
The cache could be combined with others in the area, or just done by itself.
It is a nice place on one of those warm summer days - where you can just sit and admire the view.
