This is a quick park and grab, no puzzles, no tricks, just back to the basic skills most any geocacher will possess.
This once barren spit of land was home to many pirates of old, the infamous "Blackbeard" being the most prominent. He roamed this area seeking to plunder most any ship that should have the misfortune of passing his ship's bow. It has been told that he may have even buried some of his treasures right here! For those of us who enjoy the hobby of treasure hunting, metal detecting to be more precise, we have found numerous treasures in the form of old coinage, (mostly Spanish and English, with some dating back into the 1600's) old cuttlery and table utensils, ship's spikes, and more, all within earshot of this very spot.. As you search for this cache, take time to head east a short distance and enjoy the view, a "Pirates view," and who knows, maybe underneath your feet may be found some of Blackbeard's Treasure.....
This cache is the second "Pirates Lot," with the original being several miles south of this location and destroyed by a lot clearing operation. This "Pirates Lot" is beginning with several "Pirate" trade items and a log, and can accomodate several small travel bugs. Keep a sharp eye out for muggles, they abound here. Please cache in and trash out. Enjoy the hunt, enjoy the attraction to the east, but don't get caught spending the night here. If Blackbeard's ghost dosen't get you, the Sheriff's Patrol surely will! Arrrrrrrrrrrrg!!
