Geocache Description:

This Cache is located halfway down the Kangaroo river between Hampton Bridge and Bendeela camping area at Kangaroo Valley a one way canoe trip of around 6 kilometers in total.
Access to the cache is by Canoe only! NO POWERED WATER CRAFT ALLOWED on Lake Yarunga.
So if you ever thought you may like to try the canoe trip down from Hampton Bridge to Bendeela now you have a reason.

Canoes can be hired in the local area and they will pick you up from bendeela and bring you back to where you started.
If you have your own canoes you will need to arrange someone to drive your car down to Bendeela camping area to pick up you and your canoes.
So pack yourself some lunch, don’t forget a drink and have a pick nick / Cache break and swim on the banks of the Kangaroo River before finishing the final leg of the trip down to Bendeela camping area.
We have been doing the trip down the river for as long as I can remember, well before Tallowa dam was constructed and finished in 1976 thus creating Lake Yarrunga.
As Hampton Bridge slips away behind you, the peace and quietness of this area invokes a feeling that you could be anywhere, often during the summer you can spot the odd water dragon or snake as they make their way from one side of the river to the other.
The Trip takes around 1 hour up to as long as you wish depending on the type of canoe water height your speed and length of your lunch break. The last section of still water paddling zaps your last reserves of energy with the campgrounds and pickup a becoming a welcome sight at Bendeela.
As always around water keep a watchful eye on children and observe all water safety requirements.
When walking along the banks watch out for snakes as they like to soak up the sun laying among the many rocks and bushes. You can still spot pieces of petrified wood and red, green and yellow Jasper on the rocky river flats. The Cache container is a regular sistema type with all the usual contents
