Geocache Description:

Causeway Park, Dungarvan, County Waterford.

In the 1830's a bridge and causeway were built across this shallow part of the inner harbour to connect Abbeyside to Dungarvan Town.

In the subsequent years some of the land adjacent to the causeway was infilled. This area now forms the basis of the park. It has recently been redesigned and replanted. There's a good playground and a tennis club on site. Near the bridge one of the largest remaining Elm trees in Ireland can be seen.

When the Waterford to Lismore railway opened in 1878 it's track crossed the causeway near here. The level crossing there was reputed to be the longest gated crossing in Europe, due to the diagonal route it took.

The cache is a very small square camouflaged tupperware box. BYOP.
