Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 27th. cache by Team Ladava continuing our historical tour, this time taking in part of the Carlsruhe Federation Trail.

This location provides one of few remaining tangible links to an era when the famous Cobb & Co. Stagecoach Line plied this road transporting people, mail, gold and supplies to the towns and goldfields to the north. The timber structure on the opposite side of the road was a Cobb & Co. Change Station suppling fresh horses for the coach and refreshment to the drivers, guards and passengers. Approximately 150 metres to the north are plaques recording the location of the old tollgate unearthed by workmen in the 1950s. Listen for a moment and see if you can hear the echo of the horses hooves. Sorry, it is drowned out by the sounds of traffic on the freeway. Not nearly so romantic. Enjoy
