Geocache Description:

Ammo box. Hidden on public footpath. The coordinates above are for St Andrews church but the cache is not hidden there.

This is the final for the series. You will need to find: So - Ham and Pickle, So - Ham Fisted, So - Hambone and Hillie and So - Ham Sandwich, which all hold clues to the final coordinates as follows - N52. (A). (B), E000. (C).(D)

We started geocaching in the summer and felt it was only fair to put a few out ourselves with the aim to provide the same enjoyment that others have provided for us.

Soham is known for all the wrong reasons, but it is a lovely little town and has its own little pieces of history. In the town centre there is a stone celebrating the bravery of some local men when a train packed with explosives nearly blew Soham off the map. (visit link)

St. Andrew's Church dates back to the 12th century and traces of the Saxon Cathedral still exist within the fabric of church today. In 1102 AD Hubert de Burgh, Chief Justice of England, granted 'Ranulph' certain lands in trust for the Church of St. Andrews. Ranulph is recorded as the first Vicar of Soham and had a hand in designing the 'new' Norman Church. The current church is mainly later with the tower being the latest addition in the 15th century. This tower was built to replace a fallen crossing tower and now has a peal of ten bells. The back 6 were cast in 1788 with two new trebles and two bells recast in 1808. (visit link)

Both of these places of interest are on the high street where there are a few pubs, cafes, and two really good bakeries if you are feeling a little peckish or thirsty. If you venture past Soham Village College remember to wave as the younger Grainger Rangers will be there studying hard ... Hmmm perhaps not ... but they will be there!

The cache is alongside a public footpath. There are a few different ways to approach the cache so we will leave it to you to decide the best way. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE PAVED DRIVEWAY FROM THE A142 AS THIS IS PRIVATE AND THE OWNER HAS COMPLAINED. Thanks.
