Geocache Description:

Easy, quick park-n-grab for foul-weather caching, although it works fine for nice weather too. Cache is close to the street, allowing a quick snag-and-hop-back-in-the-car to sign the logbook.

This is the third location for this hide due to muggles, and the hide is now back to its original location when the cache was published.

No, its name isn't misspelled. Hanover is the name of the street. "Tonic" refers to a cure for geocacher withdrawal syndrome - a condition we all suffer from when we can't walk the ditches or bosques on a cache run. This cache is a "tonic" for those days when you're itching to get out there and log a few smileys, but can't muster the willpower because it's raining, hailing, colder than a welldigger's butt, or just typically springtime-windy like nobody's business, taking away any fun caching might provide. Hard to sign a logbook if a stiff easterly wind is holding you aloft 150 feet in the air and spinning you around at 47 RPM This is a straight-up urban cache designed for convenience and comfort. Make sure you bring a toothpick or tweezers to extract log. Cache is log-only.

Ever since I got involved with geocaching, I've looked out our window and thought this place would make an excellent park-n-grab. There's no scenery to speak of - just a vacant cul-de-sac, some desert scrub, a busy street and lots of empty lot. But then, if the weather is lousy, you aren't out to see the stunning river or mountain vistas anyways.

Muggles shouldn't be a problem unless there happen to be off-roaders blowing the spider webs out of their motocross bikes, or the occasional city truck parked there. But that isn't very often. Most of the time there's nobody in sight. We live across Unser and have a clear view of this location, so if you think of it, give the Universal Geocacher Greeting in the direction of our house (brief GPS drunken bee dance while scratching head, followed by a wave) and maybe we'll see you and wave back We live in one of the three end houses pictured above.

The easiest way to get to the cache is to get on Ladera and turn south on Market St. which is the first street east of Unser. Go to the end where it tees and make a right. It dead-ends in the cul-de-sac where the cache is.

Have fun and enjoy!

Congratulations to Stickerpuss for this being his 1000th find!!

All of my hides now have a "Kohavis Patience Factor". The cache page standard ratings for hide difficulty and terrain are fine, but often there are hide locations that require extra patience because of stealth needed, muggles present requiring play-acting, puzzle difficulty, time required, etc. I've attempted several caches that are technically very easy, but these other factors have made me abandon it and come back at a later date. These extra factors aren't reflected in the two main difficulty ratings, so I've created my own composite rating, and every hide of mine will now carry a rating from 1 to 6 which considers all possible cache finding factors including hide difficulty and terrain, which could influence whether you walk away with a smiley or a DNF "frownie".

This cache has a Kohavis Patience Factor of:
