Geocache Description:

A cache by an interesting historic cemetery.

This cemetery is not as remote as some others in the Bankhead Forest but it is very old and interesting. Many of the graves date from the 19th century.
One grave, that of William Key stood out to me. At first it stood out because of the Star of David which is unusual in this area, but when I read the headstone I learned he served in the exact same army unit my Grandfather served in during the First World War. There is a good chance they knew each other. Unfortunately, Mr Key did not survive the war. My Grandfather was from Northern Wisconsin and in some of his letters from the war he mentions serving with some southern boys and what good fellows they were. I guess I will never know if they knew each other.
The cache is just outside the cemetery. It is a small lock-n-lock with just a log so BYOP. There is probably room enough in it for a small TB. Enjoy!
