Geocache Description:

Welcome to this stroll around the grounds of Temple Newsam.

Temple Newsam is one of the great historic estates in England. Set within over 1500 acres of parkland, woodland and farmland.

The magnificent Tudor-Jacobean house was the birthplace of Lord Darnley, infamous husband of Mary Queen of Scots, and for 300 years the home of the Ingram family until it was bought by Leeds City Council from Lord Halifax in 1922. Inside, thirty interiors display great paintings, renowned furniture including masterpieces by Chippendale and sumptuous textiles.
