Indiscretion, secrets, war, spies, blackmail, murder, scandal and joy; what more could you ask for in a geocache?
Sherlock Holmes found all of this in the Adventure of the Second Stain. His commission was to locate a letter of such importance that war hung in the balance, as did the career of a promising politician. In addition, there was a jealous lover, a falsely accused valet, a double life, a second stain, a repentant constable, an empty hiding place and a woman deeply in love with her husband. But Holmes managed to move through these issues, decipher the puzzle and secure the letter, saving England’s treasury and her young men from an awful tragedy.
The letter is gone, safely destroyed by the Home Secretary, but a replica of the envelope remains. This envelope now has the coordinates to the location of an ammo can.
You will use the above coordinates as the starting point in your quest for the envelope. It is the dispatch-box. It has the instructions to the next stage on the underside of the lid. Each subsequent stage has instructions for the next, and so on.
In seeking the envelope, which has the coordinates to the final ammo can, you may be puzzled so I recommend you bring paper and a writing instrument with you to keep track of all information pertinent to your case.
The 4 stages are these:
Stage 1 – “European complications”.
Stage 2 – “Now, Watson, now”!
Stage 3 – “A farcical waste of time”.
Stage 4 – “We also have our diplomatic secrets”.
These caches are in Huntingtowne Farms Neighborhood Park that is open dawn-dusk. The gate is locked at dusk. It will take several minutes at each stage and the total distance covered will be over a mile so please plan accordingly. There are many muggle types who use this park for playing on a playground, walking, running, biking, tennis, soccer, basketball, picnics, parties, etc. Stealth may be necessary.
I saw a hawk and flushed a beautiful and graceful doe when placing one of the stages so enjoy your outing!
** Stages 1-3 do not have items for trade so please leave them as found for the next geocacher... **
** Stage 2 can be accessed best by going past the playground area to find a path leading to the creek and then backtracking to the cache **
** My GPSr showed +/- 18 feet at the cache sites when determining the coordinates so if need be please use your geosense once you get close, they won’t be too difficult to find. **
*** Cautions ***
You will be traversing difficult terrain at one stage and you will be near water so keep any young ones or pets close to you, especially after a rain.
Also, be aware that we are in the South and there may be insects, snakes and plants that you will want to avoid, please be careful in your searches.
