Geocache Description:

Ammo Can, elevation 78 ft, GPS accuracy of + / - 10ft BE SURE TO PILE LEAVES / CAMO ON IT AFTER YOU CLOSE THE CAN !

Aug 9 2020 The cache is part of my original Obachan Cache hunts- i was stationed from 2006-2012 At Camp Courtney. Met my wife, and raised a family and cached. at one point, i literally owned the oldest cache in Okinawa. !! So, the description and type of caches are not updated to new types of caches.. we placed them more typical with ammor cans or lunchboxes. our GPS at the time only had an accuracy of 12 feet, and did NOt have Phone Apps to help.. lucky yous!! We would have geocache meet ups, First to find hunts at midnight's, when the new caches were posted.. most of us had Okinawan spouses, and they would help us navigate to the caches.. Oba-chan helped me do this!! she loved Caching and watching the American hunt..enjoy, love, and share. be blessed. She is my mother n law, who passed away . She was a huge part of my life. She is laid to rest in her family tomb, on Camp Courtney some of the caches in her name have been disabled or transferred away. Her Obachan Fence is on her actual house, used with permission and guarded by my brother n law- This cache is up for adoption, since i live in Maine USA . There are a few Okinawan Geocachers that want to adopt it. and soon, it will be adopted out. I hope you understand, this is a true story. She hid in these caves and was rescued, along with other Okinawans at this very spot. And she cried when telling me the story about it. This cache has a specific history to my family. Oba-Chan ( Okinawa for Mom ) She was 13 years old, when one day she woke up and saw the sea crowded with 1000 ships. Then it rained hell. She saw houses, buildings, farms, and yes, even families destroyed. She grabbed her younger brothers and sisters, and ran, in dark and in light, to this place. She knew her cousin’s family was here somewhere. Her trek took her from Naha to Kadena, to finally here. IN THESE CAVES. All on foot Here she met her family and many others crammed inside these caves. They stayed for what she remembers to be weeks. Then one day, an Okinawan family shows up with U.S. Soldiers and trucks. The soldiers thought they were only picking up some artifacts of that Okinawan family who brought the truck. It was a trick to get the Soldiers to come pick up all these Okinawans in the cave. They gathered up these now “refugees” and brought them to a “camp” near Kadena for several months. Never to see some of her family again. The Cache is not in the caves, it is not near the shrines. It is up there. When you get up there, think of Oba-Chan. I know I did. I would not recommend at night, although I placed it at night. Take a friend. Do not bring little ones. Inside the can, is a FTF Geo Container. I also left my family coin. Please do not take it Congrats to EQ for the FTF on the night find. I hope all other enjoy the cache as well
