Once upon a time two Gerles and a Boy spent the day snowshoeing at Gerle Lake on a beautiful January day. The Boy was very familiar with the area, having climbed the nearby peaks, knowing the contours of the land like the back of his hand. The Boy left small green tokens of appreciation scattered in containers far and wide. One of the Gerles also knew this area well, having spent many happy days of her childhood swimming in the crystal clear pools of Gerle Creek and splashing, swimming and kayaking in Gerle Lake. One day, the Boy introduced the one Gerle to geocaching and their friendship was cemented in place.
Along came another Gerle, one who loves the outdoors and geocaching, seeking like-minded Gerles and Boys to spend some time with. Kayaking, hiking up the highest peaks, snowshoeing...there are no limits...and this Gerle knew that here were friends that shared a love for what she loved as well.
Toward the end of one day, after snowshoeing, crossing the icy Gerle Lake on snowshoes, the "new" Gerle decided that a cache needed to be placed. The Boy, being very familiar with this area, knew just the place...a magical place that shows its beauty in the spring and summer but also offers its own kind of stark beauty in the winter.
And so this cache came to be placed...A pyramid root shelters the container. Not many cachers will venture off the beaten path, but hopefully, future Gerles and Boys hiking along Angel Creek will find the same kind of good times as we did today!
