This cache is set in one of Hamilton’s many reserves. The terrain is flat and easy to walk however you do walk off track and through some over growth. During summer the off track walking is fine however during winter it can be very boggy. Sorry there is no wheel chair access beyond the published coordinates.
The best access is from the listed car park way point. The car park is locked from 10:00pm until 7:30am every day so keep that in mind. From here you can follow a board walk to the start point. From the final cache location you can continue on a track to the car park.
This is a relatively easy multi to complete............. if you are familiar with a compass? The published coordinates give you the starting point for a short 4 stage orienteering course through the reserve.
At the published coordinates there is a marker with a direction and distance to lead you to the second way point. This process continues until you get to the fourth marker which has the final cache coordinates marked on it.
You will need to use a compass for the intermediate way points as the directions are given in Magnetic North. Your GPS may be equipped to deal with this task although I would recommend using a compass as the GPS coverage can be a bit dodgy at times.
I wouldn’t recommend that this cache is attempted during the hours of dark for the following reasons. 1 # Although the Cache is in a reserve the light from torches will draw a large amount of attention from the security conscious locals. 2 # The markers will be hard enough to find in the day let alone in the dark. I know to some of you that this is throwing down a challenge?
