The cache is hidden a short distance from an old engine boiler.
The boiler is a reminder of Ebbw Vale's industrial past, there is
more evidence of Ebbw Vale's history if you look at the surrounding
hill sides, you can clearly see the scarring where the tracks now
over grown used to run.
You can access the cache site from a number of directions, it's
a short detour from the Sirhowy Valley Walk and the Ebbw Valley
Walk. The shortest route if by car would be to park at the
recommended car park and walk up the paths. The usual care has to
be taken, the paths are in good repair but can be muddy and
slippery, especially after rain.
I'm afraid I don't know the history of this boiler or the
building it rests in, but I'll try to find out more, please post a
note if you know anything.
Please Note: The cache isn't
hidden in the rubble surrounding the boiler but a short distance
away.
The cache car parking area isn't far from
Ebbw
Vale Festival Park Shopping Centre if you wanted to drop the
non cachers off somewhere, theres also a pub/restaurant at the
bottom of the hill for the well earned refreshments.
