Don Quiote was somewhat dillusional. I think he was a fore-runner to geocachers. He saw enemies where there were none but went valliantly to battle. Unlike geocachers, he never won.

The novel's structure is in episodic form. It is a humorous novel in the picaresco style of the late sixteenth century. The full title is indicative of the tale's object, as ingenioso (Span.) means "to be quick with inventiveness"Sancho is unintentionally forced to deceive him at certain points.

Farce makes use of punning and similar verbal playfulness. "It pleased me, moreover, to hear, many times, Books of idle pursuit and proven fictions, Amadis and Lancelot and invented falsities, In which I wasted long hours of my time."
