The NEC Over four million people visit the centre each year. And with 21 halls totalling 200,000sqm of exhibition space on a 650-acre site. As such The NEC is renowned for large-scale international trade fairs. Since it opened its doors 28 years ago The Arena has been instrumental in boosting the reputation and economy of the West Midlands. It has also done an outstanding job of entertaining a mass of visitors who have come to see their favourite music and sporting entertainers. Recently the Arena has been undergoing a transformation as part of a £28 million funding package that includes a major sponsorship deal with the global electronics giants LG. Today, the newly rebranded LG Arena continues the legacy that the Arena began, welcoming and entertaining over one million visitors each year and continuing to be one of the UK’s top arena destinations. Work is well underway on creating brand new hospitality, bars, restaurants, improved backstage areas and extra seating that increases the arena’s capacity to 14,000. These improvements ensure the venue remains in the premier league of concert destinations whilst creating a legacy for future generations. The Arena had always been at the forefront of a fast-growing industry and now the new LG Arena ensures Birmingham is a must stop destination for major acts, attracting more artists and with its revised layout allowing fans to become immersed in a more complete show experience.
