Der Daumenabdruck des Teufels.
Als der Teufel sah, dass in Wolfterode eine Kirche erbaut werden sollte, schleuderte er von der Kalbe einen Stein herab auf die Menschen und ihr Werk. Der Stein aber flog zu weit nach links und verursachte in einer Sumpfwiese eine Vertiefung, den Mühlenteich.
Auch ein zweiter verfehlte die Kirche und landete wie ein Frosch auf einer Wiese.
Dieser Stein, tief in den Boden gerammt, lässt den Daumenabdruck des ergrimmten Teufels erkennen. Der Fels wird deshalb noch heute auch Teufelsstein genannt.
Bitte einen Stift mitbringen, es passt keiner in die kleine Dose.

The thumbprint of the devil.
When the devil saw that in Wolfterode was built a church, he threw from the Kalbe a stone down to the people and their work. But the stone landed too far left and made a hollow in a wet meadow, the Mühlenteich (millpool). Even a second stone missed the church and landed on a meadow like a frog. At this stone, deep hit into the ground, you can see the thumbprint of the angry devil. Because of this the rock is called Teufelsstein (devils stone) till this day.
Please bring a pen with you, the box is too little.
