A traditional cache close to Washpool near Chiseldon. Easy footpath access from Chiseldon or from the Coate Water direction. KateyB hid this cache as part of her Silver Chief Scouts Award challenge.
Washpool is a roughly triangular wooded area which, in medieval times, was common land. In the 1780's it became part of the Burderop Estate but retained commoner's rights. Sheep were brought down to drink and to be washed in the pool - hence the name.
The cache is a small sandwich box in a camo bag. The box and many of the swaps it initially contained have a Scouting theme. The swaps are badges, pencils, trolley token keychains etc.
The cache is not too difficult to find and is easily accessed from the path, however you may need to take care as the area can be quite popular, especially on summer weekends.
Parking is easy on Stroud's Hill close to the Elm Tree pub - waypoint provided.
