Geocache Description:

On May 3, 2003, the City of Attleboro dedicated a new recreation complex featuring baseball fields, soccer fields, a basketball court, children’s playground and walking/jogging paths. The complex was named in memory of Larry Poncin and Bernie Hewitt, two City of Attleboro Highway Department workers who tragically lost their lives when a natural gas explosion destroyed a house while they were working on a repair project in the street in front of the property. Seven others were injured that day, five Highway Department employees and two nearby residents.

This Cache is placed to honor the memories of Larry Poncin and Bernie Hewitt, and introduce more people to this fine facility.

Poncin-Hewitt Fields are posted as being open from 6:00 am until 9:00 pm although I would expect it would be advisable to consider dusk to be closing time.

Parking is available at: N 41° 54.494 W 071° 17.349
