The first cache in this multi is a micro which contains the co-ordinates for the second, main cache. Please leave the co-ordinates for the main cache in the micro, thanks. Due to the tree cover and general terrain the co-ordinates have been taken as an average using two GPS's over several visits but may still be 20-30ft out. The footpath can be muddy!!
The steep sided, south west facing slopes of Afon Conwy is completely wooded. There is a small area of ancient woodland at the south end, plantation mainly of Sitca Spruce and Western Hemlock in the middle, and an area of ancient coppice near the A55 embankment with Ash and Beech on the thin drier soils at the top of the slope. The public footpath follows the line of the stream through the woods. there's a ruined watermill at the start of the walk, by the old route of the Chester-Holyhead post road which became the A55, thankfully this has now been by-passed but do take care on this road as cars do still speed along it!!
There is nowhere safe to park on the old A55. There may be room for one or two cars just off the old A55 in the lane leading up to Rhosesmor at N53 12.761 W003 09.275.
Permission has been given for the placement of the cache by the Welsh College of Horticulture. Please use the parking co-ordinates for Northop Village Car Park and enjoy the walk up to the cache area.
