Geocache Description:

Ammo Box just off the trail in a beautiful natural area.

This cache is in newly opened Eagle Mountain Park. The land for this park was acquired by the State of Texas many years back for development as a state park. However, the state changed its mind and decided to sell the land for development a few years ago. There was quite a public outcry and eventually the land was purchased by the Tarrant Regional Water District. It was opened in 2008 as a Nature Preserve with most of the 400 acres to be left undeveloped. Several miles of trails are open with pavilions and picnic tables at the entrance. Park is open during daylight hours only.

Cache was placed with the help of our Cub Pack's Bear Den boys on an outing to the park. They enjoyed finding animal prints and trying to identify them. All the boys promised to work hard and try to earn their Eagle Scout rank.

The cache is located just off a trail, approximately 2/3 of a mile from the trail head. Consult the trail map at the park entrance.

Enjoy this new and, so far, underused park.

Congrats to TMcKn for an early morning hike and FTF!
