PLEASE READ THIS: If you read this page
prior to 3-16-09 I've made a couple of BIG changes based on
feedback from cachers who've completed this cache. I'm
confident that these changes will remove most of the frustrations
that some have experienced while working on this cache.
Therefore at a minimum I'd recommend you read the section near the
bottom labeled: "
Here's
the newest additions to this puzzle
cache.
" Although the main part
of this cache description is unchanged I'd still recommend
rereading the whole cache description since it also contains
crucial information you'll need to know.
The coordinates above are
not
the cache location. IF YOU DO NOT READ THE ENTIRE
CACHE DESCRIPTION PAGE YOU WILL LIKELY MAKE THE CACHE HARDER THAN
IT NEEDS TO BE! I know this cache description page is way
too long and I apologize for that, but for now it's all you have to
keep a very simple puzzle cache from turning into a nightmare
so please read on.
The Pastor of the church where the geocache is hidden
has given permission to place the cache on the church property with
only a few very minor stipulations:
-
Hunting
for the geocache will be limited to the following
hours: 8 a.m. to dusk on Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Wednesdays the hours will
be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Due to services being held at the church
on Sundays there will not
be any geocaching on the church grounds on Sundays.
There is no
night time caching allowed on any day of the
week.
- If you arrive at the church and notice a lot of cars you
are requested to please come back another day. There may be a
funeral or wedding service going on and you would need to
return on a later date so as not to be a distraction to those
attending the service at the church.
- No smoking on the church property.
- The location of the cache means it will have less snow
around it during winter than most areas which is why I'm marking it
as winter accessible, but during the worst of the winter you will
still need to do some digging in the snow (see the hint below).
- You will need to use the church parking lot since it is
the
only
authorized access point to the cache. Please park as close to
the cache location as possible, however
please do NOT drive off the paved parking
lot. If you are trying to
access the cache from any location other than the church parking
lot you will be trespassing!
- If all of the above rules are not abided by then we may
have to archive the cache.
Thank you for deciding to take a stab at
solving what I'm calling The Worlds Easiest Puzzle Cache. I
suspect for some it will literally only take seconds to get the
cache coordinates, while others may struggle with it for
substantially longer periods of time. Since I do anticipate
some people struggling to solve this I am giving it a difficulty
rating of 2 1/2 stars.
Before I get into the puzzle description please bear
with me while I get on my soapbox about a pet peeve of mine.
Today while driving home from the grocery store I saw yet
another angry driver honking his horn and flipping off somebody
that had made him mad. I think we need to get back
to the way it used to be when we frequently used words like please,
thank you, after you, excuse me and other kind words that bound us
together as a civilized society. My hope is that you'll agree
with me and do your part to make the world a better place by either
being more courteous, or if you already are using polite phrases
please continue with your already established good behavior.
Sorry, but I couldn't resist my chance to share the above while
I've got you as a somewhat captive audience.
Below you will find a link that says "Click Here."
When you click on the link it will open another page
where you'll find an on-line robot. Her name is Cache
Master. All you have to do is ask her for the cache
coordinates and she will provide them. How's that for easy?
Feel free to have a chat with Cache Master and ask questions
about the cache coordinates or any other subject you feel like
chatting about.
VERY IMPORTANT: Read the
section below and it will save you potential
headaches!!!
Here are some ideas to make your time interacting with Cache
Master even more informative and hopefully fun
too
:
- I've purposely made this puzzle cache pretty easy.
My goal is that the majority will find this a bit of a
challenge, but also that the majority will be able to solve it
after putting in some effort.
- When talking to Cache Master and typing the word geocache
instead try typing the word cache.
- Sometimes it can seem like Cache Master is almost human so
you may want to start your conversation with her with a friendly
greeting such as hello, hi, howdy or something similar.
- Like all things on the internet sometimes Cache Master is
temporarily unavailable due to the high volume of traffic at the
web server. If this happens hit the refresh button on your
internet browser and lots of times that will solve the problem.
If that doesn't work don't worry it seems to usually comes
back up within a very few minutes, so use the opportunity to
stretch your legs and get a cup of coffee or a sandwich.
- I've tried to insert a few humorous remarks into
some of Cache Masters replies. I've been told I have a weird
sense of humor so if you see anything that offends you I apologize
and can assure you it was not meant to be mean to you. My
only intent was to make people smile. If you ask
Cache Master, "What's your favorite song?" you'll see an example of
what I mean. It is only meant to give a little chuckle and
hopefully it will be received that way.
- If you are pretty confident you have been
asking for the cache coordinates in the correct way, but suspect
you may be off by just a tiny little word or two you can contact me
and ask me to verify if you are truly providing the right
prompt. If you are basically right and only off by a word or
two I will be happy to provide you the exact words to type, since
you've basically solved it and it's only on a technicality that you
haven't gotten the response you need. Or if you want to
continue without any assistance feel free to do that
too.
- Correct spelling does count when
dealing with Cache Master.
- If Cache Master tells you that you need to
search elsewhere on the internet ignore that. She will
give coordinates if you give her one of the sentences/questions
she's programmed to respond to.
- Do not just say coordinates when dealing with
Cache Master, be a little more specific and say cache coordinates
and you'll be more likely to get favorable results. Please
notice I say to type out the word coordinates, if you shorten it to
coords you will not get favorable results.
- The next point is to remember that Cache Master
can seem almost human at times so it would not hurt to be nice
throughout your entire communications with her.
- Do not put the cache name or cache
ID number in your interactions with her it will just confuse
matters.
- I guarantee you it
is possible to
get Cache Master to provide you with the coordinates so you
can find this geocache so don't give up on this easy puzzle
cache.
-
Here's
the newest additions to this puzzle cache.
Based on feedback from cachers who've
completed this cache I'm going to disclose some information that
was not previously disclosed. This cache has 2 different
containers. One container is a dead end container.
You'll get the coordinates to this container if you do not complete
all of the steps that are required. The good news is the dead
end container does provide you with a note that contains a
hint (a pretty strong hint in my opinion) on the direction you need
to pursue to get your smiley. The other container of course
is the cache container where you'll find a large container filled
with swag and a logbook.
- Also, after hearing from a few cachers that they
weren't 100% thrilled with the thought of a dead end container and
using their time to go to it I've decided to add a geo coordinate
checker to this puzzle. It's the last thing on this page just
before you get to the log notes left by other geocachers (it is in
a very small font, but it is there). If you check the
coordinates that Cache Master gave you and it says you are correct
then you are free to go to the cache site and make your find
official (just make sure
you do it during the authorized caching hours listed at the top of
this page). If you find out the coordinates are
wrong then you have 2 options either one is acceptable and you'll
have to decide for yourself which one fits your personal preference
for playing the game. Your first option would be to decide
that's a bummer and go in person to the dead end location that
Cache Master gave you the coordinates for and read the note to get
the nudge to get you going in the right direction. That
option may be best for those that want to fully experience all
phases of the cache. Or if you live out of town or are
pressed for time you can send an E-Mail to
worldseasiestpuzzlecache@yahoo.com
and for the subject line and also for the text of the message just
type in the word "help". You will very quickly get an auto
reply message that tells you word for word what the message in the
dead end container says. Then it's up to you to complete the
last required step or two. WARNING! If
you do this prior to getting a set of coordinates from Cache Master
you will totally spoil it for yourself so please only use
this option if have already gotten a set of cache coordinates from
Cache Master.
- As I've stated earlier I am available to try and
assist anybody if they feel kind of stuck and need a little help
getting onto the right track. To contact me click on my
screen name at the top of the page. Do NOT send
requests for my help to the auto responding E-Mail address I
supplied above since I will not receive any messages sent
there. The only thing is as the weather warms I'll be
spending less time on the computer and it may take me up to week to
reply. I will try to reply as quickly as possible, but I want
you to know that realistically it could take up to a week to
reply.
When you're ready to begin working
on this puzzle cache please
strongly
recommend you read the next sentence before going out to the
cache location.)
The pencil lead on the pencil in the cache keeps
breaking so I'd suggest you BYOP to sign the log. Thank you
and good luck!!!!
To
everybody who has placed caches locally I say thank you for the
great times you've given me!!!!
Congratulations to 1PATR1OT and johngie on
the co-FTF!!!!
Also, a special congratulations to
cacherX4 who completely solved the puzzle cache and had the correct
coordinates at about 12:10 a.m. on 2-18-09 . He respected the
no night caching restrictions or he certainly would have been
either the FTF or at least would have been a strong contender for
it. As far as I know he was the first to successfully solve
the puzzle even though he could not sign the log first. He
did great!!!!
Thanks also everybody who shared their
opinions on how I could make this cache better for all will be
finding it from this point on!!! Hopefully I've made the
right changes and now everybody can more completely enjoy
themselves.
Last, but certainly not
least I need to thank FireFrog69 since it was viewing his cache
called Patience & Sincerity that planted the seed in my mind of
using a robot in a geocache. Then when I ran into what seemed
like insurmountable technical difficulties he was very kind and
gave me crucial technical assistance that allowed me to get my
robot set up so that it could meet the listing requirements of
geocaching.com . Thank you FireFrog69 your assistance was
greatly appreciated!!!!
