AUSTRALIA DAY - OUR NATIONAL DAY
Australia Day
How much do you know about the events surrounding our very first 26th January?
The cache is not located at posted co-ords.
It can be found at S35 16. ABC & E 149 09.DEF, by answering these few questions:
A = The two Naval ships that were part of the First Fleet both have the same number of letters in their name. A = the number of letters in (either of) these names.
B = "On 3rd June a ship was sighted – the “Lady Juliana”, a transport with 22B female convicts."
C = "On XYth April the “Supply” set sail, leaving behind very anxious settlers." C = X + Y
D = "After a few years of isolation and near starvation, the settlement at Sydney Cove could begin to expand, although food was to remain a major problem until after the breaking of a year long drought in late 179D, when farming began to prosper, and shipping became more regular."
E = "The Fleet consisted of six convict ships, three store ships, two men-o-war ships with a total of ___ convicts (564 male, E92 female), 550 officers/marines/ship crew and their families.
F = "The British Government hired F ships and set about provisioning them, together with 2 Naval vessels, with enough supplies to keep the convicts, their Marine guards, some with families, and a few civil officers, until they became self-sufficient."
This cache would be best place at Port Jackson, but as that isn’t possible, the GZ overlooks an Iconic Australian Museum.
Please check for muggles before making the actual retrieval, and likewise when returning the cache. Lunchtimes can be a busy time around here.
