Geocache Description:

The Pileated Woodpecker is a crow-sized, mostly black bird with a bright red crest. This bird's territory size can be 150 to 200 acres. Drumming can be heard by either unmated males trying to attract a female or between mated pairs as part of courtship. They eat carpenter ants, beetles, other insects, seeds and fruits.
