This cache is part of the Cache EM If You Can series! The series is to promote caching in the East Midlands. It is the 6th cache in the series, and is a simple multi taking you to a now scenic area which was once home to something which this area is famous for - a colliery.

The 75 hectare area of Bagworth Heath Woods is on the former site of Desford Colliery. The colliery was the owner of Lindridge Hall who sank a shaft in 1875, however due to it close proximity to a geological fault the cost of constant pumping left the owner bankrupt in just two years.

The site includes a demonstration woodland, monitoring the success of a variety of woodland tree species. There is a range of walks available in the park and some fine views of Bagworth and Thornton. Some of the park’s walks make up part of the 100 mile Leicester Round.

Pedestrian access to the woods is available at all times, although the free car park has opening hours which are dependant on the time of year.
October – March: Daily 9am-4pm
April – September : Daily 9am-7pm
This is a short, two-stage multi. The given co-ordinates are for the car park. You will then need to visit:
Stage 1: N52° 39.374 W001° 19.389
Here, you will find a plaque. First, look at who commisioned the sculpture. Count the number of letters that are used in the abbreviation. This number =
A. Second, find the sculptor's surname. Take the first letter and convert to a number (e.g. A=1 etc). This number =
B. The final coordinates are:
N 52° 39.
A43 W 001° 19.

Good luck finding this cache and happy hunting for the rest of the series!
