This is the fourth (the last) of the 3 Pines series located on a 40 acre BLM piece surrounded by private property – please be respectful of the neighbors. The entrance is gated to block vehicle entry, but the gate can be walked around. Parking is limited to the side of the road at the additional coordinates. This small piece of land (1/4 mile square) is currently used on occasion by hunters in turkey season, the fire fighters for physical training and wild land fire fighter students in the art of creating fire breaks. One section is also used by the forestry department and is planted with a small experimental forest. And judging by the first week of the 3 Pines caches, heavily used by Geocachers!
There are MANY fire break trails that have nothing to do with geocaching trails and the flag tapes will probably just lead you around in circles if you follow them. There is no need to bushwhack if you choose the right path, which will not necessarily be the shortest route to the cache. Beware of the odd tripping devices and open mining cuts and pits. The container is a camoed ammo box.
Congratulations to StealthCowboy for being a solo first on this one. (liked the afternoon publishing - did ya?)
If there are other cars, fire trucks or busses parked there it would probably be wise to try again some other time.
Parking Coordinates: N 38° 42.220’ W 120° 52.091’
PS - The sign on the gate is meant to have vehicular traffic get authorization to enter and does not apply to foot traffic.
