4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

A nice cache with views and some nice Christmas memories

A pretty easy find. We put this here to draw you to a nice view, but also because of a really fun 2008 Christmas we just had.

The Dad Woyboy decided to spoil the children Woyboys with an iPhone each for Christmas. To add to the fun, the Dad Woyboy climbed the fence of the lookout and climbed down three more ledges and hid a 20 litre drum, with the two iPhones, chocolates, other little pressies inside! And hid it well he did. Big sandstone rocks and the like he put in front that he could only just lift just to be sure it wouldn't be found.

Next he marked the coordinates of the lookout. Then climbed down to the coordinates of the first ledge, then marked the coordinates of the cache. (Note the current cache coordinates are nowhere near where the Christmas Cache got put.) The last coordinates he marked in the front garden of the Woyboys home.

4am Christmas morning Father Woyboy cooked up scrambled eggs and toast and put them in the car. Then hid an esky in the garden. In it was eggnog and sweets and goodies. 4.30am he wakes the Woyboylings, much to their disgust!

Tells them there is a Christmas Cache! Next they are on their feet realizing what I meant!
So they get dressed in warmish clothes and I have marked the coordinates 1,2,3,4 on the GPS to be easier. The first one is in the garden, and they find the esky of food and cutlery easily and I put it in the car. They are totally confused now!
We goto the next one which is the lookout and we are looking out on Brisbane Waters in the darkness and you can just see the lights on the water through this pretty gentle mist that was rising slowly off the water. They are getting excited!

We go to the next coordinate which takes us out the front of the lookout, meaning climbing around and down in the dark! Father Woyboy wasn't thinking this would be a little harder in the dark and did we get scratched! This takes us to the first little ledge. So we sat there in the darkness and dealt out breakfast and sat and watched the sunrise . It was so pretty.

Now the boys are hyped! Last coordinates!
And only 20 metres away! So scramble they did down the hill and over the last 3 metre sandstone cliff and noticed the big boulder and next thing they have found the drum! Father Woyboy wisely noted the drum needed to be at least opened on the last ledge where things wouldn't get lost.

We climbed back back to the ledge and Father Woyboy happily watched the fun of the Woyboylings opening their Christmas presents!

This was FUN!
