Profitez de cette cache pour vous balader le
long des quais du canal Saint Martin. L’endroit est très
animé, notamment le week-end: brocantes, tournois de skate,
promenades familiales dans les parcs voisins, etc.
Rappelez-vous le fonctionnement des écluses en observant un des
bateaux touristiques évoluer sur les différents niveaux ou passer
le pont tournant.
Pour l’histoire, sachez que le canal St Martin a été creusé
sous les ordres de Napoléon Bonaparte, qui souhaitait améliorer
l’état sanitaire de Paris en reliant l’Ourcq à la
Seine. Véritable voie commerciale pendant près d’un siècle,
l’affluence du canal a diminué avec la montée en puissance du
transport routier.
Si vous êtes courageux, vous pouvez partir du parc de la Villette
et suivre le canal, partiellement enterré, jusqu’au port de
l’arsenal près de la place de la Bastille.
N’oubliez pas de faire quelques ricochets comme Amélie
Poulain !
Comment trouver la cache finale
?
Une fois arrivé aux coordonnées initiales, notez A, le
nombre de lattes en bois du pont.
Dirigez-vous ensuite vers le pont le plus proche, en passant par le
coté Est. En chemin, vous passerez devant un hôtel qu'un livre et
un film ont rendu célèbre. B est la date à laquelle le film
est sorti.
Une fois sur le deuxième pont, cherchez l'extraterrestre et notez
son nom. C est la somme de ses lettres (A=1, B=2, etc).
Vous avez à présent tous les éléments pour trouver la cache
finale.
Ses coordonnées sont: N 48°52.X, E 2°21.Y
où X = A*10 + 12, et Y = B/2 – C – 90.

Make the most of this visit by strolling around
the banks. This is a very lively neighbourhood, especially on
week-ends: second-hand markets, skateboarding competitions, family
visits to the parks, etc.
Enjoy learning about the locks looking at the boats that go through
them.
Short story of the canal: Napoleon Bonaparte asked for its
construction, to improve Paris town health. During almost a century
the canal knew an intense traffic which ended with the growing
power of the automobile industry.
If you feel like walking, you can follow the canal from the
Villette park to the Bastille “Port de
l’arsenal”.
Anyway don’t forget to skim stones on the water like Amelie
Poulain!
How can I find the cache ?
Once you arrive to the initial coordinates, count A, the
number of wooden boards on the bridge.
Then head to the nearest bridge, walking on the East side of the
canal. While walking, notice a hotel that became famous thanks to a
book and a movie. B is the date when the movie came out for
the first time (if you don't understand French, this is the last
date appearing on the sign).
When you are on the second bridge, find an E.T. and look at its
name. C is the sum of all the letters, using the common rule
A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.
You can then find the cache final coordinates: N 48°52.X, E
2°21.Y
With X = A*10 + 12, and Y = B/2 – C – 90.
