The cache is located in the remains of the Bogside colliery. This area seems to have had various mines over the years but sadly all are now just a memory. This one in particular closed in 1929.

To get here is fairly straight forward. You can either park at the Irvine Golf Club (Bogside) and walk to the cache. Or you can follow the rough road through the course to where it finishes and then begin your walk.
N.B by parking here you are actually on the remains of the old Bogside racecourse grandstand.
Since I mentioned the old racecourse you could always go for GC1CZF1 while you are here.
On the way to the cache you will need to cross some boggy ground so wellies are advised all year round. When you do get near to the cache you will find lots of remains of old buildings, slag heaps, railroads etc. Don’t get too excited though I really mean the remains. There is not much left and a lot of it is buried in the undergrowth.
