This is a very popular trail, and on a clear day you'll be rewarded with stunning views at numerous spots. The trail is rutted in places, but easily passable. Elevation gain from listed trailhead is about 600 feet.
Along the way, you'll pass near a former cache at The Rocks (GCTHPD, Madrock, now archived). It's well worth the effort to scramble down to the coordinates of that cache for a unique viewpoint of the valley.
The container for this cache is a 3x5 metal box, about an inch and a half tall, hidden about six feet off the trail on the uphill side. It's easy to get to from the trail, with no bushwhacking required. The spot is visible from the trail, so please rehide well when done.
