BKip's Fond Farewell!* (*A Non-Event/Event Cache) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

geojammers: Well after 2 dnf's I had to go check on this cache and my worst fears were realized. Yes, it's gone. Indeed we all had a fond farewell back in February for BKip and this cache was the long goodbye to him. I might have replaced this cache if I thought the cache site wasn't fully compromised, but it has been. I guess anytime you hide a large ammo box in an urban setting you take the chance that it will get muggled. The only thing I wish is that we hadn't lost the log book that we were going to send to BKip down in San Diego.

So once again, thanks to BKip for all the great caches over the years!

Geocache Description:

BKip, one of Marin County's all time greatest cachers is moving to San Diego and he needs a proper send off !!! So it's to the Fuzhou Super Buffet we go/went - 6 pm at 6090 Redwood Blvd. in Novato to send him off on his next quest in life in style .

There is a log book in this cache for those who went to the get-together for BKp's on February 13, 2009. It will stay in the cache for a month for those that did not get to the event so that they can sign it too, and then it will be sent to BKip in San Diego. A regular log for this cache will take its place after that.

There are more tribute caches hidden in Bkip's honor than any other Marin cacher. Why is that you ask? Well for starters, BKip made some of the most well crafted camouflaged caches to be found anywhere with some really wonderful stories and tales surrounding them. Then there are his incredible photographs that he posts for almost every cache that he has found.

On Friday, February 13, 2009 the biggest Non-Event – Event of the year takes/took place in Marin County! This non-event brought together as many of Bob Kipke’s friends and fans as possible on short notice to send him off in style and with good wishes as he moves on to his new job in San Diego. Due to the short notice that Bob was given, we were not able to put together a proper Geocaching Event. Somehow though, we think Bob is just fine about that and that he enjoyed the company of his friends that he made through geocaching and the local fans that have come to appreciate his hides, humor, photography, education and the style in which he plays this game of ours so well. As he embarks on this new journey, we all want him to know that he will be greatly missed. He has taught all of us something good about our game and increased our awareness and appreciation of the beauty of the area we live in. We all know that our big loss is San Diego’s huge gain.

"And so, my fellow Cachers, ask not how many caches have you found; ask how many caches have you placed"
— Bkip

How about one last cache photo from BKip since this is the one he posted for this cache!,
