COME ONE, COME ALL!
If you were geocaching and participated in the 2003 version, you
will remember what a blast that one was. This one promises to be
the local geoevent of the decade!
From Belen to Bernalillo and from Tijeras to Lost Horizon, there
will be 30 new, permanent and loggable geocaches to find. These
will be an assortment of regular ammo cans under trees, small
caches anywhere, simple puzzle caches and multi-stage caches. As
always, each cache will have a 1 to 5 star difficulty and terrain
rating. There will be geoprizes for all participants who finish, a
plaque for the winner and 3 "special" awards for the top 3
teams.
AND NOW: THE DETAILS.
At 8:00 AM on May 2, 2009, check this site for the geocache names
and coordinates (yes, you will have to enter them manually). You
will have from then until 3:00 PM to find as many of the hidden
caches as possible. At that same time (8:00 AM) this cache page
will display a link to a downloadable scoring sheet you can use for
tracking your results. There will also be a phone number you can
call for help.
For the scoring, we have devised a twist(ed) format. Each cache
will be worth the sum of the difficulty + terrain rating stars,
ie., 2.5 + 3 = 5.5 points, where a 1 + 1 would equal 2 points. So,
unless someone finds all 30 caches, the winner could be a geocacher
with fewer finds than someone else, so don't skip those multi-stage
hides! Also, 6 of the caches will have subtle tie breakers/bonus
points in them so be observant.
We suggest you stop your hunt by 3:00PM and return to the
rendezvous location (this cache's coordinates) where you may enjoy
pizza and beverages while your score is tabulated. At any rate, no
entries will be accepted after 4:00 PM, though you can still
partake of the fun!
RULES AND
SUGGESTIONS
Teams must share 1 vehicle. Two or more
teams may travel together or share a ride, but for the final
rankings they will all be considered as one if they finish in the
top three.
Multiple GPSr's allowed
YOU MUST post TIME of find
Scoresheets turned in after 4:00 PM won't
count
Extra points for finguring out the meaning
of all the cache names
Extra points awarded for certain caches - BE
OBSERVANT
FTF'r on 1 particular cache will receive a
bonus award
The gathering point at the end of the day is
not the usual dog-friendly park so those of us that geocache with
our geopooches should take that into consideration and, where
possible, plan a drop-off stop at home on the way to
Boston's.
NOSTALGIA
The original event was held in August, 2003.

11th HOUR MUSINGS:
SOME OUT-OF-TOWN GEOCACHERS MAY NOT HAVE
INTERNET PRINTER ACCESS AT 8:00 AM SATURDAY. TEALEAF HAS MADE
ARRAGEMENTS WITH A COUPLE. FOR THE REST, TUX WILL BE AT THE EVENT
RENDEZVOUS LOCATION FROM 8:15 TO 8:45 AM SATURDAY WITH PRINTOUTS OF
OF THE DOWNLOADABLE LINK THAT WILL POP UP AT 8:00 AM.
ON THURSDAY TUX MADE A DRY RUN OF ALL
CACHES. TOTAL DISTANCE WAS 255.2 MILES AND 9 HOURS AND 22 MINUTES -
THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THE RETURN HOME. WE DO NOT EXPECT ANYONE TO
FIND ALL 30 GEOCACHES. INSTEAD, WE RECOMMEND YOU GET THE ONES
CLOSEST TO YOUR STARTING POINT AND THEN GO FOR THE POINTS. DON'T
FORGET THE BONUS POINTS IN SEVERAL CACHES AND THERE ARE AN
ADDITIONAL 3 BONUS POINTS IF YOU CAN FIGURE OUT FOR WHICH GEOCACHER
EACH CACHE HAS BEEN NAMED! Y-E-S. EACH CACHE HAS BEEN NAMED AFTER A
NEW MEXICO GEOCACHER, AND NOT JUST THE ONES IN
ALBUQUERQUE.

IT IS A SUGGESTED FINAL FIND FOR THE DAY.
MAY YOUR GEOCACHE FINDS BE

list.
Falcon Medic - Hawkedoc
Ably Done - Enabler
Larry, Moe and Curly originally just a decoy, then we decided
that any team that caches as a trio would qualify. Tux did this one

Brown - Ivanq ( the Browns also accepted)
Corked - Corker
Steve, Gingerly - Steve, Ginger and the kids
