Find and Sign Waterloo Bridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

More on the history of Port Adelaide. ( Source: A Commodious Harbour by J Couper-Smartt).

Captain John Hart built the 14 room house Glanville Hall in 1856 on a site named Bucks Flat.
Hart's impressive mansion was built from stone ferried across the gulf from a quarry near Port Vincent.
In 1946 the house was purchased by the Anglican Church , and until 1958 was a home for Aboriginal boys of mixed race from the Northern Territory. Two of whom were Charles Perkins and John Moriarty.
The Port Adelaide Council purchased it in 1960 and it was refurbished and now houses the Senior Citizens Club and the 1st Glanville Hall Sea Scout Group.
An 9 hole par three golf course was established and the site is dominated by a massive Morton Bay fig.
An original lamp from the Waterloo Bridge (1831) also stands in the grounds. This is one of many that were donated to Commonwealth Counties.

Room for name and date only.
