Here we go again for some fun times at Hayes State Park! Last year was soooo much fun, we just HAD to do it again!! Come on out for the day or the weekend, we'll be there having a GREAT time!! There is a fee to enter the park unless you have a state parks sticker! Come for the day or the weekend, Saturday will be the main activities day with contests and games as well as fun and relaxation!! Nearby (adjacent to the park) is a boat rental with kayak, canoe, row boat and pontoon boat rentals, a great way to spend the days taking in the sights around Wampler's lake...or a chance to go fishing!!

We have moved to sites 2-???, host sites are 2&4, all others are up for grabs, first come first choices! The cabins might also be available (please call the state parks HQ to check for cabin availability 1-800-44PARKS). We DO NOT need to reserve campsites through the state parks, but PLEASE let me know where you plan to set up!! Friday is camp set-up and registration before we settle down to a nice hotdog roast and gathering around the group campfire. We will also make a trip out to our nearby night cache Goodnight Ramsdell...a NIGHT CACHE!!

We are planning on having the dutch oven cookoff again this year, if not enough interest, this could change. As of now, it is still a go, so please let us know if you intend to participate! If you are not planning to participate, please bring a dish to pass according to the list below:

  1. A-E Beverages/pop
  2. F-J Veggies/dip or fruit/dip
  3. K-O Snacks
  4. P-T Desserts
  5. U-Z Potato Salad or other type of salad

I will be supplying a main dish of some type, we're working on that still!!

An idea for this year is a TB contest! What we're planning here is to ask anyone and everyone interested to bring a TB along with them to enter the TB race, we'll release the TBs from the event, maybe having everyone in the race take someone else's TB to be dropped in a cache. My thought here, to see how many of these TBs can make it back to the event (actually travel, not go home and then come back next year lol)...but a side contest will be to see who makes up the most interesting TB (to be judged by you friendly voluntary staff). There might be a few catagories, we'll refine this as we go, but get your creative juices flowing and work on it!!

There will be ALL NEW CACHES to find this year, we will be placing them very soon! Many will be published for the event...maybe even a water cache this year Anne...no, really?? As many of you know, there are some wonderful areas here, some of the landscape can be a bit rugged though!! Come prepared with the appropriate clothing and bug spray...and maybe even some suntan lotion?? Camping in Hayes is modern...showers, paved campsites, great playgrounds and activities area, fishing w/boat launch to two lakes in the park (Wampler's and Round lakes) and a picnic and beach area!! Camping is $23 per night

Located in the Irish Hills area on M-124 just to the north of US-12, we are approxiamtely 20 minutes from Jackson, 40 minutes from Ann Arbor, about an hour from Toledo area, maybe a bit more from the Detroit area...close by for our Ohio and Indiana friends to come and join, as well as our northern friends!!

Watch for more info and maybe an informative webpage!!

UPDATE: Breakfast is a GO!! We will have breakfast, but we will need anyone planning on attending the breakfast to bring something! Please post what you plan to bring when you post your will attend!! Also, March 14th is the last date the current Hayes caches will be in place, we will remove most caches next week!!
