For those that never managed to solve it:
The person of interest was Herbert Ackroyd Stuart, the real inventor of the "Diesel" Engine.
This was invented in his workshop in Fenny Stratford - there is a Plaque in Denmark Street.

Geocache Description:

A mystery person puzzle set somewhere in the environs of the City of Milton Keynes.

Now that the clocks have shifted back an hour and its dark and cold, I thought I would set a series of Puzzle Caches to keep you all warm and usefully occupied in the evenings.

It will be possible to complete any cache in the series individually, but it will probably be much easier to solve them in order. A clue will be provided in each cache giving some help in solving the next one (or previous one) in the series. There will be a unique, personalised and exhilarating prize for the first Cacher to complete the Series.

To determine the whereabouts of the cache all you have to do is identify the person described below and visit the MK location most closely associated with them.

This person was born and died in Yorkshire, but for a period lived in the Milton Keynes area.

The person (and their father), had a close business association with a constituent town or village of Milton Keynes.

This person was the inventor of something very familiar, although it’s named after someone else.

The invention was patented during the reign of Queen Victoria.

Some of you will no doubt own one.

At the location you will find some numbers, consisting of a total of 12 digits. Write down the digits in the order they appear and assign the letters A through L to them.

The cache can then be located at :

N5A [K-D] F . D H J - W000 4 [G+L] . C K L

There is water near the final cache location, so please take appropriate care with children and geodogs.
