The second RoobyDoo Event is being
held this year at The Check Inn at Wroughton, Swindon on Saturday
18th April, 11.30am
The Check Inn serves real ale and
food and has a large car park and lovely gardens, perfect for
hosting a Geocaching Event. The landlady, Maureen, has kindly
agreed to allow us cachers to descend on her for the day. The pub
is open all day, so unlike last year, if you're thirsty, you need
not worry! In addition, dogs and well behaved children are welcome!
(or should that be well behaved dogs and
children)
A new series of Check caches will
be placed for the event. The details of these will be available at
12:00, when the caches will be published. The caches will be placed
along the Woodland Trail (although you'll be hard pressed to see
many trees!). It is a popular (but noisy in places!) walking area
which is quite open, so you'll have to be discrete when finding the
caches! There will also be a bonus cache to find once you've found
the others. I'll try to squeeze in some geocoins as FTF prizes as
well!
There'll be two competitions, one
for the kids and one for the adults. More Geocoins as prizes!
(although how many will depend on how flushed I'm
feeling!)
The route you'll take is just
under 2 miles, so shouldn't trouble too many. It doesn't lend
itself to strollers, sorry! At the time I walked the route, I was
up to my ankles in snow, but hopefully it will be less challenging
on the day!
Once again, thanks to Sandra
Locator for her offer of help for this event. In addition, Sandra
will be running a raffle in support of the Mega Event being held
later in the year. If you would like to contribute items as prizes,
please bring them along. The prizes will be drawn at 12:00 just
before the Check Series is released.
For any cachers wanting an early start, there'll also be another
new series to keep you busy a few miles away, so check your email
on Saturday morning!
In addition, Wimpy has kindly said he will also be publishing a
series of caches too nearby, to coincide with the event, so there
will be plenty of new caches to keep you
busy
As with most events, it is worth pinning your caching name
somewhere conspicuous so others can see who you
are
The above co-ordinates are for the
pub car park.
