Geocache Description:

Stoches- modern name North Stoke

The Domesday book is a survey of England made in 1086-1087. It's name "Domesday", the book of judgement, attests the awe with which the work has always been regarded.

I noticed that there are quite a lot of villages and towns around Sussex which were in the book, mostly with different names. I wanted to do something fun using this. So welcome to my Domesday trail, its Part 1 because I may do some more if this works out !

How this works

There are 5 micro caches and 1 bonus cache (which is large enough for swaps) in different villages/towns. Each micro cache contains 2 clues to the bonus. The clue is in the form of a letter and a word
e.g
C=BORDARS.

Then look at the cache listing. This will contain an extract from the Domesday book for that place. For the 5 micro caches there will also be selection of words taken from the extract with a numeric value for each one.

Use the words from the cache, and match to the list to give a numeric value for the letter from the cache. Then use that numeric value in the formulae in the bonus clue

Bonus Clues

fisheries = 2
slaves = 5
ploughs = 7
hides = 8
