Popanyinning was founded in 1882,the town was surveyed in 1905, it was chosen as a fettlers camp for the upkeep of the railway as it had a good supply of water from the river (Hotham River). At it's peak Popo boasted 2 shops,School,Hall, Post office,Hotel, Blacksmiths, Church, Bakery, telephone exchange and station, some of these building still stand.A map of walks can be obtained from the local store.
The container is a piece of white PVC pipe some 27cm long with a waterproof seal screw top lid.
It contains FTF Gift, Safety Glasses, sml rubber Lizard, Pen, 2xPencils, Eraser, Couple of Scout Stickers, rubber bangle sml Ball, sml Paper Clip and a Logbook and Writing Utensils in a plastic bag..
I have also placed a new “Travel Bug” in this Cache it is named “Mum's Dreams”, This TB is for my mum who died of cancer before she had time to travel so I would like to see this Bug travel long and hard to see the world as she would have liked to do.
