Die Landung des Raumschiffes erfolgte 1984, nachdem die Landephase 1971 begonnen hatte. Im Vorfeld und auch während der Landephase gab es immer wieder Streit darum, ob das Raumschiff ausgerechnet hier und ob es überhaupt landen sollte; alternative Konzepte sahen viele kleinere Landungseinheiten vor. Nach dem ersten Bodenkontakt 1984 dauerte es noch ein weiteres Jahr, bis die Landung abgeschlossen war und die Luken und Schotts geöffnet werden konnten. Angesichts der Größe des Raumschiffs ist dies nicht erstaunlich. Jeder Cachefinder kann das gigantische Schiff aus der Umgebung des Caches ausgezeichnet betrachten, ohne selbst von der Raumschiffbesatzung entdeckt zu werden (wobei fraglich ist, ob die Außerirdischen überhaupt Interesse an dem Cachefinder hätten; sie scheinen beständig mit wichtigen Untersuchungen der einheimischen Fauna beschäftigt). Jüngsten Gerüchten zufolge soll auch die nahe gelegene "Area 52" [GCR4DN] damit zu tun haben, die von der Regierung betrieben wird.

Bis auf die letzten 5 Meter ist der Cache für Rohlstühle und Kinderwagen voll geeignet, es geht aber etwas bergauf!
The landing of the spaceship took place in 1984, after a long phase of landing which has begun in 1971. Before and also during the landing phase there where many controversies about the spaceship, the place of the touchdown and whether the vessel should land at all; alternative concepts had the idea to use many small landing units. After the first ground contact in 1984 it took still one more year, until the landing phase was completed and the hatches and bulkhead were ready to be opened. If you look at the size of the spaceship, this is not very amazing. Each cachefinder will regard the gigantic ship from the hiding place of the cache, even without being discovered by the spaceship crew (anyway, it is questionable if the crewmen would be interested in the cachefinder; the extraterrestials seem to be very busy with important investigations of the native fauna). According to recent rumors the landing of the spaceship has to do with the nearby "AREA 52" [GCR4DN], a forbidden area run by the government.
