A
cache by the pond in the Tilden City Park.
Soon after this pond was built,
some ducks stopped in and took up residence here. The ducks usually
nest around the pond and hatch quite a few little ones out, but
predators usually keep the population down.
The pond is enjoyed for duck watching and fishing year
around. Mrs B sometimes brings her preschool kids here with
bread crumbs to feed the ducks and fish.
In the days before refrigeration, Giles Creek was used to flood the
low areas around here in the winter. When the water froze, the ice
was cut and harvested to be used in ice boxes in the summer for
refrigeration. To the South of the cache the trail leads to the
remains of the foundation of the ice house.
Container is larger than a nano, smaller than a match tube.
You can get to the area by wheel chair, but the cache is not
retrievable from a chair. If it is not to wet, you can drive
up near the cache site. Be sure to bring a pencil along with your
tools!
Congrats
to
