Geocache Description:

A courier just delivered a handwritten message to your door. It reads:

My dear friend and intrepid traveler,

After much planning, I have prepared a new and exciting challenge for you. Called Around the World in 80 Caches!, it requires patience, ingenuity, and the ability to handle the unexpected. In this journey, you will be venturing into several countries, 80 in all, in search of concealed artifacts. The countries will lead you to continents, and the continents will lead you to the ultimate prize, hereafter known as "The World." Based on your experience and past adventures, I am confident you will succeed. As always, travel safe and be sure to document your findings. I look forward to hearing all about your grand expedition.

Your great admirer,

Jules Verne

IMPORTANT NOTE: Information in this cache will help you solve Antarctica: ATW80 (GC1MGBZ), a puzzle cache tied to the related countries.

Motto: "Leo Terram Propriam Protegat" (Latin)
"Let the Lion protect his own land"
or "May the Lion protect his own land"

South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands are a collection of bleak and remote islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. Most of the islands, rising steeply from the sea, are rugged and mountainous. At higher elevations the islands are permanently covered with ice and snow.

The South Georgia Group (Spanish name Georgias del Sur) lies about 1,390 kilometres (864 mi) east-southeast of the Falkland Islands.

The South Sandwich Islands (Spanish name: Islas Sandwich del Sur) comprise 11 mostly volcanic islands (excluding tiny satellite islands and offshore rocks), with some active volcanoes.

A large source of income from abroad also comes from the issue of South Sandwich Islands postage stamps which are produced in the UK.

The South Sandwich Islands are nature's solo act. Volcanic eruptions roughed out their shape; ice, wind, and waves still hammer and carve them. Birds and seals alone find refuge here. Packed ice holds the islands in a vise grip most of the year. There is a roar from crowded bird colonies and the reek of their guts and waste coating rock and ice. Exploding waves block ships from shore. And beneath it all isone of the Earth's fastest moving tectonic plates. The permanently cold sea maintains a cold maritime climate on the islands, and the weather is variable and harsh.

You are seeking a sandwich size container hidden under a geopile! You can park in the parking lot and walk over to ground zero. You will need an Adventure Pass to park there but you can also grab some of the other great caches in the area while you are here.
Some swag inside and I started this cache out with a TB inside!
