Geocache Description:

Quick easy roadside cache.

This is a quick and easy roadside cache that can be done quite easily from the seat of your car.

The Fort mistake Motel is midway between Newcastle and Ladysmith on the N11 road between the towns. The Motel was once a thriving little stopover for travelers and offered a nice little spot to stop over and visit the nearby Fort built up on a hill overlooking the pass below.

Unfortunately in 2001 a wild fire swept through the Motel doing a lot of damage. The Motel was renovated but the owners eventually moved and in October of 2008 it went through another damaging blow when vandals ransacked the Motel. Doing a lot of damage. Unfortunately this Motel is just another relic of the past.

Maybe one day someone will come along and revive this old place and give it new life. But for now it remains a ghost of times gone by.
