Clean Up Australia Day has become a national day to address the issue of waste dumped in the countryside. Commencing in 1989, Ian Keirnan has brought to the fore the need to keep Australia beautiful, and not just to be vigilant of our own front yards, but to help out in the broader community.
The roadside near "Bucketts Way Landfill and Recovery Centre" has become a minor eyesore for a lot of refuse, and it would be great to see it looking good again.
There is a geocache placed near here - (visit link) GC18KP6, Trash and Treasure, in June 2007, it was very hard to get an accurate reading with the lantana there. Some people have found it hard to find the cache container, as there is a lot of rubbish there.
We will be meeting where the mountainbikers park their cars, Sunday morning, the 1st March, 8am, and if we have finished this site before 12 noon there are a couple of other areas needing attention. Also, hopefully there will be a cache, or two for the volunteers to find. So, don't forget: sturdy shoes, sun hat, and insect repellent.
I need to know how many safety vests to get, so, while there is registration to complete on the day for Clean Up Australia Day, please register here as well, so I know how many kits to get. THANKS!
Call me at home before 7:30am Sunday morning if weather is suss on 6553 1436, or 0416 067 863 after that, as I'll be at the site setting up (and have coverage there, versus none at home).
