Geocache Description:

This traditional, small cache is located along the Wateree Passage of the Palmetto Trail, just off the main trail. Park at the Palmetto Trail parking area located on Foxville Road. To get to the parking area you can use Foxville Road from US76/378 or take Middleton Road from SC261.

As you reach your destination you will approach a trail marker that will lead you down into the slough. Take time to explore the swamp up close by taking the rough trail from here. The steps down the hill are steep, uneven and often slippery so watch your step carefully.

The cache is a small plastic jar placed a short distance from the rough trail. Watch out for fallen and leaning trees. Be aware of the possibility for snakes, spiders, wasps, ticks, mosquitoes, ants and other creatures you expect to see in a swamp.

Have fun and enjoy the View! For a detail map of the trail, visit the following link: https://palmettoconservation.org/passage/wateree-passage/
