Rayonier Locomotive

Photobucket

This locomotive near Lauridsen Boulevard with a healthy chain link fence around it was Rayonier number 4, one of many more. You can see number 10 in Forks, and number 3 in Hoquiam.

This is a Willamette Engine built in 1924 for Long-Bell Lumber company. This engine’s number was 701 for Long-Bell. It was acquired by Rayonier in 1947 and used to load and move lumber for Rayonier’s mill and products to the main lines leaving for other sites, Port Townsend, Portland.

The engine was donated to the City of Port Angeles in 1960.

Many believe it is a Lima Shay Engine, but if you notice the cylinder values are rotated to the outside as seen on the machinery side (north) which is unlike a Lima Shay.

This is a small cache, coins and small other small toys and travel bugs are welcomed.

There is a shiny new President Dollar for the first to fine.
A hardy congrads to woppawife and bigawop for the FTF, caching buddies.
