Pkway
Arrive early for instructions
Please list potential team cachemates or numbers on a team so we
can
have an estimate on supplies (instructions, food, and
parking)
Thank you - The Management
Note: The Finish is an outside Picnic area,
you may want to bring folding chairs if you want to sit
down
(we may have to adjust location in the case of
rain).
What is a gimmick car rally? A gimmick car rally requires the
ability to follow directions, a keen sense of perception, and often
a twisted sense of humor. Participants travel by car and on
foot, searching for valuable information, using a pre-designated
course. You are given a set of driving instructions like “Turn Left
at Traffic Light” (or shortened to “L at Light”), “Turn Right First
Opportunity” (“R 1st Op”) and you have to find your way to the
Finish which is a secret (clues given). Street names are
usually not given, so you have to pay close attention to the
directions. Caches are also found at the end of each driving
leg. Points will be given for correct answers to the clues
and for finding the caches. You will be required to have at a
minimum two people per team, a Driver and a Navigator. You
may have as many other helpers on your team but they must fit in
one vehicle. This is NOT a speed race. And since we are
geocachers, it is a cache event (credit available after the
Event). Teams with the highest points will be presented as
the Winners.
Just show up at the posted coordinates at least 30 minutes
prior to start (Start is 10:00am sharp). Instructions on how
to read the Driving Directions and other rules of the game will be
provided before the start, along with Clue Answer sheet. Hot
Dogs and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided at the Finish.
If you want to bring some extra food in Pot Luck form (chips,
cookies, salads, sodas, etc.), feel free to do so. The bigger
the better. You can give the food to the Rally Masters at the
Start, so it can all be waiting for everyone at the Finish.
It should take about 2 to 3 hours to finish. Again, NO
SPEEDING. We will have a waiver for you to sign prior to the
start.
So get a team together, come up with a good team name (keep
it clean), and come out for a unique caching
experience.*
Also, this is a Fond Farewell to Beta Eagle 1 who has to move
to the DC area for a few years (it turns out he is moving the day
of the event, but he will be there). And, hopefully, a
Welcome Back for Hof05 from a tour of duty in Iraq (return schedule
dependent on US Military).
Here
are the 4 caches:
SDGCR #1: Poway Community Park (GC1P3Q8)
SDGCR #2: Old Poway Park (GC1P3QX)
SDGCR #3: North County Fair (GC1P3R5)
SDGCR #4: Kit Carson Park (GC1P3V8)
